About the Designer

Born and raised in Connecticut, Malik is a fashion designer whose work explores the intersection of couture craftsmanship, artistic expression, and timeless design. Guided by a lifelong appreciation for fashion, his practice is rooted in technical precision, intentional storytelling, and a commitment to creating garments that transcend trends.

From sketching hundreds of designs throughout his childhood to developing handcrafted couture pieces today, his creative journey has been shaped by curiosity, discipline, and a desire to continually refine his craft. His design perspective draws inspiration from the landscapes of New England, as well as his Caribbean and Southern African heritage, translating color, culture, and memory into garments that feel both contemporary and enduring.

Faith remains the foundation of his creative process, informing not only what he designs, but why he designs. Every collection begins with purpose, emphasizing craftsmanship, authenticity, and the belief that clothing has the power to communicate identity, confidence, and emotion.

The debut of his first couture gown, Obsidian Grace (2024), marked the beginning of B. Plometa's couture journey and established the brand's commitment to elevated construction, sculptural silhouettes, and meticulous hand-finished detail. Since then, each design has continued to build upon that vision—balancing classic tailoring with expressive artistry to create pieces that are as technically considered as they are visually compelling.
